Welcome to Brothers and Sisters, the weekly meetup for prayer* and community at Daily Kos. We put an asterisk on pray* to acknowledge that not everyone uses conventional religious language, but may want to share joys and concerns, or simply take solace in a meditative atmosphere. Anyone who comes in the spirit of mutual respect, warmth and healing is welcome.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
Psalm 8
I've been struggling lately with this same issue. I have no difficulty believing in a Creator God, but, with the Psalmist, I wonder why He should care about humanity (and to be very honest, why He should care about me). What we do here on our little ball of rock and water seems inconsequential compared to the majesty of the heavens. Why should God care? Perhaps because, even for God, caring makes existence worthwhile.
Brothers and Sisters, let us care for one another.
