I'm from Wisconsin, a place with 2 seasons: winter and road construction (AKA orange barrel season). Winter is pretty harsh here, cold and snowy like it is in most of the north. While a lot of folks, like retirees who don't have to be here year round, leave when the weather turns cold (we call them snowbirds because they go south in the winter), most of us just stick it out.
We're a hardy bunch as folks found out in February 2011:
.
.
I'm sure Scott Walker and his band of Not So Merry Men thought that putting their pile of evil into the state budget during winter would make it easy to ram it through. Wrong. Did I mention we were a hardy bunch? That's why they had to import Deputy Sheriffs who were friendly to their cause from all over Wisconsin to close our Capitol commando style, Constitution be damned. It was the only place that lots of people could go to warm up from the weather outside. It was also the only place where large numbers of people could use the restroom. We still kept coming, but restricted fluids and insulated ourselves against the cold even more.
Yeah, that's Wisconsin. If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change.
It's been well below zero for a long time now (temps well below zero with wind chills 50-55 below zero) with piles of snow and, yes, we are complaining about the dangerous cold (local schools announced on Friday they'll be closed Monday because of the serious cold). Hopefully, the San Francisco 49rs remembered to pack 2 sets of long undies for their game tonight with the Packers. They're going to need them in what looks to be a game to rival the infamous Ice Bowl of the 60s.
But we remember, too, that our bugs die. Go somewhere south where the bugs don't die in the winter and they grow so big you can ride them around like ponies. Ours don't have a chance to even think about getting that big.

We make fun of winter.
When Fox News decided to play a protest of a clash with law enforcement complete with folks wearing tshirts and palm trees waving in the background while describing the Wisconsin protests, we didn't get mad. We got fake palm trees and carried them around with us outside the Capitol in the snow and cold. That said more than a thousand editorials on how Fox phonies up their stories with lies.
Onward to some fun from all over Snow Country:

Not sure where this is from, but I'd take it seriously
Takes "I'll have a cold one" to an entirely new level
Artwork created.
This guy is going to need a bigger shovel
Humor. We haz it.
Yeah. What he said. Looks pretty much like that around here, too.
Remember to be careful where you park.
Some of the best snow funnies come from Canada (they have moose and polar bears, too!)
King Tut is NOT in there
Yes, that's a moose crossing. Canada rocks!
Oh yeah
So if you're feeling down and out with the snow and cold, I hope you feel better with the laughs. If not, spring is coming with it's showers and rainbows and we all know what you'll find at the end of a rainbow:
