So y'all have been following, or perhaps sighing and skipping over, Team Z's updates about our continuing efforts to down Garrosh, the final raid boss of this expansion, before the new patch landed this Tuesday.
We tried and tried. We changed things up, moved things around, geared up, tried harder, got help, tried some more.
And oh, how good it feels to be able to tell you all that WE FREAKING DID IT. On our 162nd try. With 36 hours to go.
The game is changing this week, and that's great, it's fun, new challenges are coming and changes that will affect how we handle raids and teams in the guild. But for right now, we're savoring this last victory.
I need to thank a few people:
-- Jantuk, my co-leader, the voice of calm when all about him are losing their heads
-- Brumal, the team philosopher and tank extraordinaire
-- Crakzert, amazing healer, who puts up with us throwing Paper Zeppelins at him
-- Sardric, sneaky and sardonic rogue
-- Cognosi, flexible and friendly hunter
-- Bipolarbear, whose enthusiasm (and damage) know no bounds
-- Callestina, the newest member of our team, who's picked right up and fit right in
-- Arcanesong/Tonyharrison, who ably swaps between damage and healing and provides useful guidance from his Alliance team
-- Lynera, the warlock we borrowed from Team RP to finish off this fight, also a super nice guy
Also
-- Mrs. Bipolarbear, who generously agreed that her husband could raid with us despite it being her fifth wedding anniversary. And, by extension, all the family members who have been extra patient with us these last few weeks.
-- All the people who have been part of Team Z along this journey but were not there at the end, including Ettocrut, Moodyloner, and Nztorg.
-- Everyone who substituted with us. I'll just name a few names: Swyftlyght, Rockchalk, Tinkerfell, Buckshammy, Papagenia, Vanillapie. If I forgot you, please know that we're still grateful!
-- Wreck List, for existing and for creating a supportive and encouraging culture that allowed this third raid team to find its way. The experience of the seasoned raiders was invaluable in helping us make it this far, and we knew everyone was cheering us on. Best. Guild. Ever.
No thanks at all to
-- Crakzert's cat Rosie, who wiped the raid at one point by standing on the power strip and turning off his computer. We hear Blizzard is going to make her a raid boss in a future expansion.
-- Arcanesong's landlord, who apparently thinks one outlet is enough for an apartment, leading to occasional disconnects due to brownout conditions.
-- Blizzard's loot dispenser, which gave us NO BoA weapons.
I'm writing this right after raid because I'm all hopped up on caffeine and can't sleep. Can you tell? All right, onward and upward. Or maybe downward, depending how much time it takes us to figure out how to play after the patch.
