Because I can, and do, vote in the republican primaries here in South Carolina, I am on a call list for polling for the republicans. Got a call this morning (at church time on Jesus day, for fuck's sake!) and was amused by the choices.
Started with: do you identify more as a social conservative or fiscal conservative. I laughed out loud, and chose social since there was no other choice.
Issues choices were very binary as well....for it or against it:
Net neutrality (you want it, you don't)
NSA spying (think it's good, think it's bad)
Same-sex marriage (for it, against it)
Immigration (find a path to citizenship, close the borders and deport everyone)
This one kind of made me laugh: Some say the republican party will not be viable unless it can find a way to bring more Latinos into the party. Do you agree or disagree?
How many times a month do you go to religious services?
How many children do you have?
Then we had the 2016 presidential primary contenders:
Jeb Bush
Mitt Romney
Chris Christie
Mike Pence
Mike Huckabee
Scott Brown (WTF??)
Paul Ryan
Rand Paul
Scott Walker
Bobby Jindal (another WTF)
Rick Santorum
Ted Cruz
They asked this question a couple of different ways.....who would you like to see in the primaries, and then who would you vote for in the primaries. I, of course, chose "someone else" every time. No way to tell them who.....and I wanted sooooooo badly to put in Sara Palin.
I have a bad, bad habit of voting for the absolute worst candidate in the repub primaries.....it's the only luxury of living in a blood red, stupid state :-)
