Yeah, a lot of hand wringing among the DC elite and CNN's Deborah Feyerick this afternoon, interviews David Gergen and Bob Baer regarding the "chickenshit" comments directed towards Bibi Netanyahu by some anonymous official in the Obama administration.
What really amuses me is when the Dixie Chicks said something about Bush as private citizens related to the Iraq War, a lot of conservatives branded them traitors. Yet, republicans openly side with Netanyahu over Obama and do their best to diminish President Obama in the presence of a foreign leader and by their logic, shouldn't we call these republicans who have blasted Obama and his administration for not being respectful of Netanyahu enough as traitors? (I am just using their logic, not necessarily saying that is mine).
You know what, Deborah, Israel has nothing to complain about. They depend on us for money. They need to show a little gratitude to the U.S. because without the U.S. backing, Israel wouldn't be so comfortable with their defense that they can afford to go ahead with settlements in such a ballsy manner. If it wasn't for the US support of Israel, a lot of those terrorists wouldn't even care about the US. So Israel should be grateful that we risk our security to lend continued support to our ally. But they should be served notice not to act this arrogant with our politicians.
Back to the latest chickenshit comments: no big deal. Anonymous officials do this all the time in every country. Netanyahu hasn't disparaged Obama either directly or indirectly in recent years? Yet, someone like DEborah Feyerick on CNN gets really heated while interviewing her guests and keeps saying how unacceptable this is and has this really incredulous look on her face as she processes these "anonymous" comments. And how damaging and insulting such comments are. Where was this emotion when your own President was getting disparaged in worse terms.
