This is a challenge to see how many examples we can come up with representing the current nature of incongruousness , or for a more simple term "farce, i.e. broadly satirical comedy", that we now seem to face on a daily basis. The news is full of it, politics (especially now) is always rife and since the primordial ooze (or creation of man depending on your personal bent) until this day we all see things that we just shake our heads to. The barrage is endless.
I started this short list the day I first heard, thanks to the web, about the abduction of the school girls in Nigeria, no thanks to the mainstream media. I am sure there are more.......
Farce,
To think that 200 girls could be abducted all at once but, it wouldn't make the news.
To think that one person can marry but, another person cannot.
To think that a government of the people, by the people and for the people shouldn't be a government at all.
To think that one wall was bad and so torn down but, that another wall is necessary and needs to be erected.
To think that money is free speech in elections but, to ignore the right to vote by ordinary citizens.
To think that the Constitution doesn't need interpretation for an automatic weapon but, to say that it does since the framers could never have conceived of the cell phone.
To think that abortion is a waste of a life but, to turn away thousands of children at a border as if they were waste.
To think that one immigrant can be granted citizenship just by touching land in the U.S. but, another who has labored, lived and possibly even given military service for years be made to leave as a penalty.
To think that the answer to children being massacred in schools (on a regular basis now)
is less regulation.
To think that Fox News is journalism but, The Daily Show is comedy.
To know that man can hunt an animal into extinction but, to think that man's actions have had no part in harming the Earth.
Actually, although farce, I think the last one is more hubris!
