Carl DeMaio
California Republican Carl DeMaio is being accused of sexual harassment by a second former staffer. In October, former campaign policy director Todd Bosnich
accused DeMaio of some blatant harassment. Now, former regional political director Justin Harper is making
similar allegations against DeMaio, who is locked in a tight House race:
Harper said he went to the restroom and didn't know anyone was in there.
"I was at the urinal, and (DeMaio) came from the stall that was closest to the urinal and was kind of just standing there hovering," Harper said. "I turned around and realized that it was Carl. He had his pants up, but his fly was undone, and he had his hand over, not over, grasping his genitals."
The DeMaio campaign claims the urinal wasn't even working on the date Harper says this happened. But Harper's story is not inconsistent with Bosnich's allegation that DeMaio masturbated in front of him, or that of a Democratic city council member that he twice saw DeMaio masturbating in a city hall restroom. However, polling in the race
remained close after Bosnich went public, so it's unclear if Harper coming forward would change the dynamics of the race—or if there's time for them to change.
