Hopefully this causes some heads to explode, women are intelligent and can do that science stuff.
The Italian physicist Fabiola Gianotti has been chosen to lead the Cern particle physics research centre, the first woman to be put in charge of a top global scientific institution in the field.
Gianotti, who attracted worldwide attention in 2012 for her leading role in Cern’s discovery of the Higgs boson particle, will take up the post in January 2016 as scientists aim to make further discoveries about the origin and makeup of the universe.
A brilliant mind and as the spokesperson for the greatest experiment in the world this is to be cheered and hopefully it inspires many more women to shine in science. We need all the role models we can get.
Can I get a cheer?

More on Fabiola Gianotti here
Of course Gianotti is ecstatic to solve this mystery, but something truly endearing about her is that she does not consider the Higgs Boson and ATLA S the only appealing part of her job. To her, what the other colliders do is equally fascinating and equally important. Today, 17,000 of the world’s 30,000 particle accelerators are used for medical purposes, such as cancer research. She says that the human part of science, the “human adventure” aspect, is what really drives her passion, and as long as Fabiola Gianotti is at CERN, who knows what leaps and bounds science and humankind will make. It’s easy to see how much it already has.
