A persistent behavior pattern I observed during canvassing during recent decade of election cycles: So many adults of voting age, 30, 40 to 50 years younger than I not only didn't plan to vote in this mid-term election, but proudly claim no intention of EVER voting! Most common reason: No faith in our political system. Most common answer to "why?": "All elected officials fail to live up to their promises, often do the opposite of what they promise, and quickly become corrupted by 'the system'. " This withdrawal from participation in our nation's most frequently provided invitation to 'speak via the ballot', has the effect of a cancer eating away at our democratic process. You may wonder, do these disenchanted potential voters UNDERSTAND the issues of the day, and if they do, why don't they want to be part of the possibility of positive change?
Lack of belief their vote will EVER matter!!
What can we do about this?
