I think most people would agree, whether it's the mother or father who abuses a child, and there is "evidence" of abuse, they should not get custody. So why are “abusive” fathers getting custody at alarming rates you ask? Why isn’t the "SAFETY" of children a priority in this country? I think most people also agree that children need to not only be heard, but believed in court? Statistics show that only 2% of allegations are false, which means more times than not the mother, and or child are being “truthful” about DV and or abuse, yet mothers all across our county are being re-victimized by the courts and even some media outlets (who get funding from fathers’ rights campaigns), and sadly it’s the children who are being used as weapons by the courts to punish the mothers. Children are being ripped out of the arms of good, loving mothers who have no history or record of anything that should cause these tragedies. "The Best Interest of the Child" as it stands is obviously not working. Changes will not happen until we all unite, judges are held accountable for their actions, and we all have "equal" access to the same “Congressional funding" or it is cut off completely. Grants used with tax payers money SHOULD go towards protecting the SAFETY of children, and not toward the rights of one particular gender, and definitely not toward helping abusers such as the "Re-Entry Program” and "Legal Funding" to fathers does. How can a good mother possibly fight to protect her child from an “abusive” father when she does not have access to the same resources? Below are very disturbing links to evidence of such facts. Please consider making a difference in advocating for the “safety” of children and not the rights of abusers any longer.
