What will it really mean?
It's a genuine question. Throw your thoughts down in the comments and let me know.
I've got a few thoughts of my own under the cheese doodle.
If the Republicans take the Senate, of course we'll face more obstruction from them...but maybe a glimmer of hope for the future. Sometimes things have to get really dark before dawn comes.
With Republicans holding both houses, it will be harder for them to Not Actually Govern. That means they'll actually have to DO something, and won't be able to blame Harry Reid for not bringing bills up for a vote. Yeah, Obama may well veto them, but at least then those bills will actually be seeing daylight.
Also, they'll have to actually own trying to dismantle Obamacare. No more futzing about in the House with 50-odd symbolic votes knowing full well that the Senate won't vote on that crap. Again, Obama will veto any substantive cut, but their constituents will be screaming for it so they'll have to try.
For a lot of people who didn't have insurance before, or who maybe have better insurance now, maybe it will be a wake-up call to them to be only a Presidential Veto away from losing those new benefits.
And finally, impeachement. If the Republicans control both houses, the push from the most rabid of the base will be to impeach Obama. Will they have the stones to do it, or will they risk pissing off their base by dithering about it? Boehner's already twiddled his thumbs over the lawsuit that he PROMISED he was going to file just as soon as he could about Obamacare, and now it's so late in the year that filing that suit is pretty much moot. Will they pull the same thing over impeachment?
If they DO impeach, will we see the same circus that we did over the Clinton Impeachment? Will we see the Full Crazy on display, or will they have learned their lesson from that debacle? If they do impeach, I think we'll see a definite Democratic win in 2016, because the partisan assholery will be too much for the Republicans to re
