ABC News has posted a mind-boggling story, interviewing former CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden, in which, unbelievably, Hayden "acknowledges" the 'human toll' taken by the CIA's torture program.
Mind-bogging because who are the humans that Hayden identifies as having suffered from CIA torture?
Yep, the CIA torturers. Disgusting as it is, I kid you not.
Former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden today acknowledged the “human toll” taken on by CIA interrogators who participated in the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques” in the years following 9/11.
Oh, and ABC kindly provides us with a little anodyne abbreviation for torture:
Hayden, who led the CIA from 2006 to 2009, told Raddatz he thought the use of EITs was successful.
With the principled, courageous journalism we have come to expect from our corporate media, the brave ABC reporter next went for the confrontational, tough question, putting Hayden on the spot: Are there any "interrogation methods he wouldn’t support?"
Hayden said: “There are certain things that are always off the table.”
The intrepid ABC reporter did not ask what is "always off the table", thereby leaving open the possibility of everything on the table.
The military-militarized police-corporate media complex is rotten at the core.
