According to numerous sources, the so called "Guardians of Peace" have gone so far to tell people even living near a movie theater that they had better leave if said theater is playing The Interview. Continued..
The Interview is the latest pile of narcissistic nonsense from the uber unappealing Seth Rogen and his smarmy cohort, James Franco.
Before I get into what the movie is about, let us first examine this culture being propagated by the Judd Apatow reign. This culture mainly seems to be glibertarian self-serving amoralism, offensive for offense's sake, the kind of me-ness that is prevalent in our macho boy thirtysomethings these days.
The general "tude" seems to go like this-a group of cultural leeches who seem to want to do nothing but sit around, smoke weed, and play video games. This in and of itself would be ok, because, well, WHO HASN'T done that, except for the fact that rarely in these Apatowian screeds is anything resembling selflessness apparent. Rogen, in particular, seems to revel in playing the social miscreant/misfit type, rarely showing concern for others.
In fact this whole group of so called stars, (Franco and Jonah Hill have some acting skill)
continue to make films over and over consisting of, and I paraphrase, "Fuck you, suck me, light me up, let's go shoot some stuff." It is the most inane socially unaware tripe you can think of.
Libertarians, with their utter inhumanity disguised as patriotism, in general disgust me in the first place. Supporting personal choices is one thing, but showing no concern for the resultant anarchial free fall that is unregulated capitalism is another. Having no worries other than the next X-Box release and whether your weed is fresh is also irksome.
I realize I may sound conservative here. But my contention is that this so called irreverence, is really unintelligent juvenile tantrums on the silver screens of America. But let's look at intelligent irreverence, shall we? Kevin Smith and his seminal Clerks, is a good example of a character study of ostensibly smart people in less than desirable career roles. Throughout most of Smith's films can be heard sharp commentary about the current condition and direction of the country.
Smith, though at times offensive and even to some, heretical, does at least go about his business in a thought provoking manner where the substance is not the constant cussing, just the spice. Compare that to this-
Within that frame, is the most nonsensical, dehumanizing, gratuitous assembly of garbage I have ever paid to see.
So what happens when satire gets political? Stoner idiots (yes I do realize that not all marijuana smokers are stoners, just the idiots) make a film about getting hired by the CIA to assassinate North Korean President Kim Jong Un. Gee, what could go wrong from that? Who could possibly be offended by such a plot device, aside from tech savvy North Koreans with perhaps access to incendiary devices.
Now I realize free speech, even utterly inane free speech, is of paramount importance, but at some point, good judgment has to come into play as well. From what I understand, the typical lack of reverence, mixed with insulting, even racist dialogue and depictions, without even a hint of intelligent commentary has caused this reaction.
Yes these clowns are free to make a movie as stupid as they wannabe, as they are examples of the degradation of society as a whole. But one can only hope that this ends nonviolently, and that some level of maturity is gained by those with nothing to say other than how a 12 year old might act once he were given access to an adult world and all of its temptations, pratfalls, and consequences. Without, of course, even a modicum of understanding about any of it.
9:00 AM PT: Sum total of Daily Kos opinion-,North Koreans bad, ok to racistly deride and embarrass.
But it is not ok to do this to any group of people, or really, even individuals when the concept of class comes into play. But then you would have to have some to understand.
