One of my favorites, D'Angelo rushed the release of his first album in 15 years and released it late Sunday night in order to respond to the recent protests in Ferguson and New York.

According to those close to him, D'Angelo wanted to respond to what was happening across the country.
After a grand jury didn’t indict a Ferguson, Mo., police officer last month in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, D’Angelo called his co-manager Kevin Liles. “He said: ‘Do you believe this? Do you believe it?’ ” Mr. Liles said. “And then we just sat there in silence. That is when I knew he wanted to say something.”

I'm still spending time with this album, enjoying it, getting to know it. As Rolling Stone says "It will take at least 14 years to absorb all the pleasures in Black Messiah."
