Well I don't have to say much here...The article from Carrollton, Georgia says it all.
It was Lynn Westmoreland who called the president
uppity.
The Ga house has passed a huge SYG law regarding concealed carry and I must admit it gives Florida a run for it's money. At least we don't have it in schools yet.
Check this out... Of course Kennesaw had a law requiring homeowners to have guns years ago. Scared ...afraid ...fearful...people.
I never lived in Kennesaw but never felt safe there upon visiting,
Read it and weep...Welcome to the old south and the old west.
They will never get over the Civil War !!!!! Some think that Georgia is changing to progressive but the truth is, only Dekalb county is progressive. Any direction twenty miles outside of Atlanta and you are in the real south. I had that told to me by Sen. Cleland's chief VA staffer. He died in 06 and a fine man who was a founder for our organization.
He was a great man named Simon Gaskill and orginally from New York. He moved to Virginia before his death as he just could not take the discrimination of blacks any longer. He was my dear friend. He said to me in 05,
the south wants to sip tea and sit under the magnolias and own my people.
The new legislation would overturn a blanket ban on carrying guns into houses of worship and make it easier to carry guns in bars. If the bill is enacted into law, leaders of religious congregations and private business owners, such as bar owners, would decide if they want to prohibit firearms on their property.
The law would also allow school administrators to decide if their teachers or other employees could carry weapons on the job. Supporters have argued that arming school officials would deter armed attacks, but opponents argued that more guns in schools would increase dangers.
Carrying guns into government buildings would be allowed if the building is not guarded by security.
Jerry Henry, executive director of GeorgiaCarry.org, a group that has been lobbying for the gun carry bill, said Tuesday his group is happy with the legislation that passed the House.
“We’re working hard to get the bill passed by the Senate and we feel the chances are good this year,” Henry said.
Henry said he dislikes one small provision of the House-passed bill which defines courthouses.
Jury duty anyone???
Now this is just crazy ...crazy enough even one republican broke ranks by saying bars and churches did not need guns in them
Oh ye of little faith... No faith in God but plenty in Smith and Wesson.
Other provisions of the legislation would:
•
remove finger printing requirements for weapons carry license renewals;
• prohibit the state from creating and maintaining a database of weapons carry license holders;
• repeal need for state-required licenses for firearms dealers, instead requiring only a federal firearms license;
• lower the age for a concealed carry permit from 21 to 18 years for active duty military, with specific training.
People with carry permits would face fewer penalties for breaking existing laws. For example, people licensed to carry weapons could no longer be arrested for taking them on college campuses and would instead face a minimum fine of $100. Those with a license would no longer face arrest for taking a firearm into an airport security checkpoint, so long as the person with the gun immediately followed instructions to leave.

Now see how they glorify the old south on top of Stone Mountain and the Civil war and you got the building of an even more perfect storm of hate.
Listen to the cheers of honoring the rebels and the bloodiest time of this country with Jefferson Davis leading the secession. This goes on EVERY night in Georgia displayed on the Mountain where Klan meetings were held. Tell me again how the Civil war is really over. There was nothing civil about that war and that laser show needs to go ! IMO. Yes at the very end of the show it shows the south rejoining the union but the hoopla is all over the secession. It honors Treason. I have seen this laser show many times and if people want to memorlize their ancestors who fought for the confederacy, then do it a reunions. The state of Georgia never even honored Memorial day until the early seventies. They did not recognize anything but Southern Memorial day. When one is brought up with glorifying rebellion, it becomes natural and you have to seek out the truth. The truth is....until people of the south learn their old ways are wrong, hatred will continue. God bless you John Lewis and MLK and Julian Bond and so many other civil rights leaders. They know this whole thing is about voter suppression, gun lobbyist, and the hate that lingers in the south.
I am sick of Georgia and Florida hate.. I am sick of southern hate but can't afford to move.
Mississippi by the way had a noose around a civil right's matryr statue yesterday.
NOTICE:
If you come into this diary wanting to disrupt and argue the 2nd amendment ..I will push back and ask you to leave. This escalation has nothing to do with the right to bear arms. This legislation has everything to do with crazy.
