Why yes, he used to be a pharmacist. Why do you ask?
Missouri legislator David Sater has a refreshingly honest response as to why his new proposed bill for a 72 hour waiting period before an abortion does not make exception in the case of rape: Because David Sater don't care. Those women should have gone to the hospital and
gotten some emergency contraception.
"If a woman decides not to go to the hospital and not get the 'Plan B,' they’re making a decision to keep that child if they get pregnant," he said. "If the woman found out she was pregnant three or four weeks down the line, they had made the decision not to do some preventative things like Plan B."
You know what's coming next, right? Of course you do.
In 2010, Sater sponsored a bill that would allow pharmacies not to stock emergency contraception if they don't want to and prevent women—presumably including rape victims—from suing pharmacies for not doing so.
So there you go. If you don't want to get pregnant after being raped, take the pill. And if the locals don't want to give you the pill, sucks to be you.
What's it going to take to dislodge these people from their Gileadian obsessions? Nothing will ever get them to change their minds, but what will at least get them to stop talking for a while?
