One of the features of the latest meta war here seems to be name calling.
One faction labels the other faction: purists, navel gazers, purity trolls, etc
the other faction throws around labels too: mindless robots, enablers, etc.
Some people like to communicate in a harsh way. but, for those on both sides, and for the third group (disgusted with the bickering and/or holders of nuanced, hard to classify positions) it can be difficult to reference a particular faction without resorting to potentially insulting terms.
I noticed this as I became aware that I was adding So-called, or putting the term in quotes. Join me below for a fun (I hope) creative exercise:
Let's take a moment to nominate terms for the faction you agree with!
I fall on the opposite faction of the so-called purists, but I am not a mindless robot. I think I'm irritated by the same things that motivate some Kossacks to advocate for alternate strategies than the ones I (reluctantly) endorse.
So, rahter than being called a robot or enabler, I would suggest people like me be called:
"Noseholders". You see, that contains the real position I hold. I'm occasionally disgusted by a particular candidate but feel our long term interests as a movement require me to put aside my distaste. a sacrifice, if you will.
What do you call yourself?
