Republicans are sad that President Barack Obama isn't doing what this guy did for America's credibility in the world.
House Republicans are moving quickly on a bill that would allow the Obama administration to provide Ukraine with loan guarantees. At the same time as they are making that possible, though,
the sniping continues:
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is beginning to sharply criticize President Barack Obama’s foreign policy in the region, saying “steps that had not been taken over the last three or four years, frankly, allowed [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to believe he could do what he is doing without any reaction from us.”
On the other end of the Capitol, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also increased pressure on the Obama administration, pledging to support the president “however we can” to keep the situation in Ukraine from spiraling out of control.
“This is a moment when President Obama is going to have to lead,” McConnell said on the Senate floor, arguing that Obama had already “eroded American credibility in the world” through his handling of other foreign policy situations.
Whereas under recent Republican presidents, the entire world stood in awe of the United States and no foreign leader ever did a single thing the American president didn't like. Total peace and happiness, globally speaking, under the Georges W. and H.W. Bush. Barack Obama began his presidency with American credibility in the world at an all-time high thanks to W., amiright?
Republicans are, like the Obama administration, also looking at sanctions against Russia for its actions in Crimea, but the loan guarantees for Ukraine are the definite piece of legislation that is moving quickly, likely this week.
