Lately I've been reading a lot of things on the nature of US backed coups and other insidious behavior by our government. The same one that champions itself as a defender of democracy and freedom and liberty and all that wholesome good stuff.

Basically this artivle in question namely.
And honestly a thought, or more accurately a question has been repeating itself over and over again as of late.
I mean, let's be honest. Our government has quite possibly been the worst thing to ever happen to democracy in ages.
We're to democracy what the Soviet Union was to socialism.
Heck, practically every government and people view us or our government with mistrust and fear, and it's not hard to see why.
But honestly in spite of all of it, people still do business with us, we still hold great amounts of power, and even when our interests go against the needs of other powerful states we most of the time force them to bow to our needs first.
Basically we act like a spoiled entitled brat who not only has to get his way, but must also force the other person to not get anything out of the deal as well. It's not enough to win, we need others to fail along with it.
So this all makes me wonder? What with the increasing dismal state of our economy and industry and all those other really important things that a nation needs to be powerful, what's gonna happen if we lose our power?
How will our nation be treated once we can no longer threaten and intimidate others to bow before us?
Food for thought I guess.
