A new poll conducted by the Texas Tech University shows support for marriage equality in that state (Texas) at 48% and those opposed at 47%. This shows that even as Texas inches very slowly toward becoming a blue state (much tooooo slowly) that support for marriage equality continues to rise, even in such a red state as Texas.
From the Texas Tech Survey:
In the past, support for gay marriage in this state was below 40 percent,” he said. “Now, were closely divided on the issue. 48 percent of Texans think gay marriage should be recognized whereas 47 percent are against. Democrats and Independents strongly support gay marriage, while Republicans are strongly opposed to it
The difference is within the margin of error of +/- 4.6%.
Other interesting findings:
44% approve of the Tea Party movement.
77% believe that Voter ID laws are mainly used to prevent voter fraud.
56% believe that illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay and apply for citizenship.
