First the good news, nobody was seriously hurt. But over night, at around 3:45 PDT, an apparent natural gas leak exploded in my town of North Bend, WA.
The building at the center of the blast had special significance for me. 15 years ago my wife and I were looking for a new place to live. After driving all over the eastern parts of King County and finding nothing to our liking we stopped at the old pizza place which was called, "The Pizza Place". It was there she convinced me to look at property in just outside of town, I swore I wasn't going to move that far from work but 2 minutes in the hills staring at two dozen mountain peaks around me changed all that.
The pizza place closed a few years ago and a dance studio had moved in. I guess they'd moved on and another business was preparing to move in. Now those plans have gone up in a ball of fire.
It's weird seeing the place you live as a top story on the national news feed. Hope all of you out there are doing well and you have a boring, news free, weekend.
