The primary ballot might be boring in NC if you pick the Democratic ballot. As an 'unaffiliated' voter I've thought about getting in on the clown show that is the Republican ballot for Senate. There are 8 entries, each more whackadoodle than the rest. Do I vote for the guy who passed the Motorcycle vagina law? Or do I vote for the guy who is Glenn Beck's favorite candidate?? They are all scary, and with an unlimited supply of money coming in from Croossroads GPS, Freedomworks, and a plethora of Koch-but-not-Koch donations, Kay Hagan is getting outspent in her senate race. She's safe in the primary, but it would be nice to see a GOP implosion if the GOP primary goes to a runoff election, and we can get a second round of debates in which the candidates have a moran-off in which they see who can deny science the most.
But regardless of whether you get a Team Blue or Team Red ballot, the 'nonpartisan' ballot may be the most important on this primary ballot. The NC Supreme court is 'nonpartisan' but that just means no R's or D's next to the names. In reality they are definitely partisan.
Of course nobody spends much money on Supreme Court ads, and I don't watch local TV anyway so even if there is an air war I have not seen it, but there is one pick that is not the same as the others.
Here is an article summarizing the three nominees for SCONC: http://www.hcpress.com/...
While the candidates do not proclaim to have political leanings, Mr. Levinson is proud to be a "Constitutional Conservative", as well as an internship in the Reagan White House.
Ms. Doran sprinkles the terms 'Liberty' and 'Freedom' throughout her bio in much the same way as Sarah Palin or any Tea Party candidate would do, along with a jab at those pesky 'activist judges', which we all know are the judges who agree with dirty hippies.
So that leaves us with the one candidate who is endorsed by the NC Democratic Party, Robin Hudson
This race was diaried earlier by CocoQ, but needs to be brought up again, now that early voting has started. Voters can choose ONE of the three candidates, and the top two will be on the November ballot, and the winner will be awarded a seat at the NC Supreme Court, an already conservative body. Hopefully the primary will split the R votes and Hudson will make it through to the November ballot, and we can get word out.
Let your friends know, NC!! Vote Hudson!! Let your conservative friends know as well, since it is a 'nonpartisan' ballot.
