Received this e-mail today from Shenna Bellows (D. ME) campaign:
In 2011, Governor Paul LePage and Republicans in the state legislature sought to deny Mainers the right to same-day voter registration – a right that thousands of people have used to register at the polls on Election Day since 1972. I served as Co-Chair of the Protect Maine Votes Coalition, which won the fight to restore same-day registration and expand voting rights across the Pine Tree State.
I will be a leader in the Senate in championing expanded voting rights, just as I was in Maine. Will you stand with me? Add your name here to support a law guaranteeing same-day voter registration nationwide.

The right to vote is one of the foundations of a free and democratic society, and unlike in so many places around the world, we here in the United States are extraordinarily privileged to have the opportunity to make our voices heard at the ballot box.
Today is Primary Election Day here in Maine, and as we go to the polls to cast our votes, I can't help but think of Republican efforts all across this country to deny hundreds of thousands of people access to voting rights. It's a clear difference between the values of our two parties: while we're working to expand the vote, they're working to suppress it. Sign your name here to show your support for a nationwide law guaranteeing same-day voter registration.
