More fringe views from the American Taliban, this time it's a
Scott Esk, a candidate for Oklahoma's House District 91, who was responding to voter questions on his Facebook page:
Esk posted some old testament scripture that referred to homosexuality being punished.
Someone asked – “So just to be clear, you think we should execute homosexuals (presumably by stoning)?”
Esk responds – “I think we would be totally in the right to do it. That goes against some parts of libertarianism, I realize, and I’m largely libertarian, but ignoring as a nation things that are worthy of death is very remiss.”
Morris spoke with Esk by phone and asked him about the statement.
Esk said, “What I will tell you right now is that was done in the old testament under a law that came directly from God. And in that time, it was totally just, it came directly from God. I have no plans to, you know, reinstitute that in Oklahoma law. I do have some very huge moral misgivings about those kinds of sins.”
But, that's not all. The publicly available posts on his Facebook page are a
treasure-trove of nuttiness including his participation the extremist John Birch Society:
He also seems to have a problem with the Mexican residents of Oklahoma (which was too long and rambling for a screenshot):
Well, I had a facebook friend denounce me basically for being concerned about a large group of Mexicans at the "Plaza Mayor", formerly Crossroads Mall, in south Oklahoma City. I replied to him, and he quoted some of my early replies to his facebook page, but not my later ones. He unfriended me, and now I can't even see what in the world he said about me, but I can guarantee you this: He wasn't very pleased with my concern. Here is the scenario: A large group of several hundred Mexicans was at what I've always known as Crossroads Mall an hour and a half before any of the stores were open. But there was one store they were lined up to get inside. It had no signs indicating the activity going on there. Rather than making a ruckus there, and seeing no security guards nearby, I called the Oklahoma City police on their 911 line to report what I had found. I was criticized for calling 911 for a non-life-threatening emergency, but I didn't know any other number to call, and as long as dispatchers were on with me, they never offered to give me another number or transfer me to another one. The dispatcher kept asking me what crime they were committing. I said I suspected that many of them were guilty of being here illegally, for which we have legitimate federal laws (that unfortunately are not being enforced by a federal govt which has an agenda counter to enforcing that!). Long and short of it, the police never sent anybody out to even check on the situation, and the immigration number they gave me only gave me the opportunity to leave a message, and they never responded to this day either (???)
Now, in response to this friend who apparently thinks I'm an idiot for being concerned about this, as I already mentioned, our federal government is given very few responsibilities by the Constitution, 17 in all, and 1 of the 17 duties in Article I, Section 8 is to "To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization", which is commonly accepted to include protecting our borders to discourage foreigners from crossing it illegally. In light of our federal government's foaming eagerness to take on powers outrageously outside the 17 given in the Constitution, but its abysmal failure to protect our borders, we have many who are in our country illegally, and they're mostly Mexicans. I am like many of my constituents who want to see illegal aliens of all appearances driven out of Oklahoma by any means that's ethical. I was criticized for assuming that just because somebody appears Mexican, he's automatically illegal. Well, there's nothing automatic about it, but I have no way of knowing just by looking at him if he is or not, and because of illegal aliens, mostly Mexicans, coming here in droves, there's a good likelihood that a Mexican seen here is here illegally. Now, in a crowd of several hundred apparent Mexicans, do you think it's likely that they're all here legally? No complex math involved here. I believe I'm like many other Oklahomans who welcome people of all ethnicities who are willing to jump through the necessary immigration hoops to come over here legally and contribute to Oklahoma's and America's greatness.
I was accused of being a racist by the guy who unfriended me after he heard about SOME of my reasoning for calling law enforcement about the very unusual sight at the mall Saturday. I asked him and another fellow who was critical to define what they thought racism meant. Neither of them was using the dictionary definition, and I cautioned them that I would call them on it if they applied that term to me improperly. Go to dictionary.com. 1 of the definitions of racism there deals with believing that one race is superior to another, and also hatred for a particular race, or races that 1 is not a member of. Well, I'm here to tell you, I have friends that are black, hispanic, Indian, Middle Eastern, Oriental, etc, and I've never entertained racist attitudes toward them or their ethnicities. And to say that one has a racist attitude simply because he desires to see criminals dealt with properly shows a great degree of ignorance.
Finally, to those who wrote me off as a racist or having 'big government ideas', couldn't you at least have had the decency to let me know, if you also have a problem with illegal aliens costing us huge amounts of tax dollars and other big problems, what is your way of dealing with them? And don't be general and just say that we shouldn't say such things as "Your papers, please". I'm running for State Representative to replace the term-limited Mike Reynolds in District 91 in south Oklahoma City, and I'll be interested in doing whatever is ethical and Constitutional to get these criminals out of our state, and it resonates very well with my constituents, and many outside my district in Oklahoma who have talked with me about this major problem. I like the idea from Arizona that a policeman, stopping a motorist, once finding that he is not here legally, can start proceedings for deporting his illegal butt, and I'm for HB 1804 in Oklahoma which was supposed to stop folks from getting state govt dole if they're here illegally. I wish to also see language that makes any meddlesome bureaucrat who seeks to interfere with the implementation of such an Oklahoma law a felon, to be punished with fines and/or jail. I'm profoundly disappointed that HB 1804 is not being enforced, and those of us who believe in the rule of law need to be persistent in standing up for oppressed Oklahoma taxpayers being forced to foot the bill for the problem the federal government absolutely won't take care of!
