Right-wingnut and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is renouncing his Canadian citizenship.
34.9 million Canadians no doubt cheered the news that the Tea Party darling would pass on the chance to lower property values and aggregate IQ in the land of the maple leaf.
Cruz was born in Calgary, where his Cuban father worked in the oil and gas industry. Cruz's mother was American. The family returned to the U.S. and his father became a naturalized U.S. citizen. (Cruz, of course, is against immigration reform.)
Due to his Canadian birth, Cruz could legally claim citizenship in either the U.S. or Canada.
Sadly, he picked us.
