Over the weekend the UK's Telegraph ran a brief piece on blogger Steven Goddard's work portraying NOAA's temperature record as having been "fiddled" with and "shamelessly manipulated." The core of his argument is that NOAA is deliberately changing the data to cool the past and heat the present in order to exaggerate global warming.
So either NOAA is updating records as it refines its data and grows its understanding, or it's engaging in an open conspiracy to rewrite the past and usher in a New World Order under the banner of Anthropogenic Climate Change.
The Telegraph piece garnered over 7,000 comments, many suggesting the latter (and at least one pointing out that Goddard's misleading us by using average days over 100 degrees, instead of average temperatures.)
