(I haven't seen any diaries on this but if someone beat me to it, I apologize)
Yesterday three members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were shot and killed in Moncton, in the province of New Brunswick. Two more Mounties were wounded. Police are still looking for the gunman.
Details below the fold.
It is still fairly early and so the news is in a great state of flux. Local police and the RCMP are looking for a Justin Bourque, 24, who was videotaped in camouflage and carrying assault rifles. It looks like this guy simply decided to go out and shoot police like it was hunting season.
The manhunt continues and Bourque is described as armed and dangerous and a large section of Moncton is under lockdown and school canceled until shooter is caught.
Emerging details can be followed on the CBC News website:

It will be interesting what action our Canadian neighbors take regarding long arms in the aftermath of this crime.
NOTE: Edited to remove reference to Moncton as NB's capitol.
