People are going to say "this is not a diary" but I don't care. Right now, here in the San Fernando Valley, CA, there have been two gun-related incidents. A high-speed chase ended up with a barricaded suspect. Not very far away from that incident, Los Angeles Valley College received a threat that a student was going to show up with a gun because he was ticked about his grades. In both cases, several neighborhood schools are either on lockdown or were on lockdown, and in the case of the barricaded suspect streets are blocked with police cordons.
When is this going to be addressed by lawmakers? When will we collectively say enough is enough and deal with the twin crises of the wide availability of guns and lack of availability of mental health care? I despair of this ever changing so long as the munitions industry and its lobbyists in the NRA have an inordinate amount of power.
