There were two decisions especially detrimental to the well being of American women this session. Here's a way to protest both of them simultaneously.
There are already people trying to boycott Hobby Lobby. Plans are underway to shield women seeking reproductive care from harassment now that the "buffer zone" has been removed. I suppose one could stage a protest at the Supreme Court, but you'd have to do it from behind their buffer zone. Not very effective.
Why not arrange a protest at every local Hobby Lobby? But don't just walk around with signs or hand out flyers. Confront shoppers as they pull in the parking lot. Be there as they get out of their cars. Hand them a flyer. Tell them why they shouldn't shop in the store. Follow them all the way to the front door. Keep the pressure on as they enter and as they leave.
There is no need for potentially violent confrontation like that exhibited by the anti choice crowd. Or graphic bloody posters. But a poster that shows a family in poverty with more children than they can care for would make a statement. Flyers could expose the hypocrisy of a "pious" privately held company that has no problem investing retirement funds in companies that supposedly violate their religious beliefs. Why not ask shoppers that agree with the position of Hobby Lobby how they feel about doing business with countries like China that promote and actually force abortions? In short, you can be respectful, but still invade a potential shoppers personal space. It's free speech, right?
It would only take a handful of people to be effective. Perhaps, some people will get back in their cars and shop elsewhere. Perhaps, Hobby Lobby would demand a buffer zone to protect the "rights" of their customers.
Voila! Two protests in one
