Detroit is the home of Bakers Lounge. In years gone by, I have heard Freddie Hubbard, Philly Joe, Eric Dolphy and Trane, among many other stellar artists.
Want to visit? There's something special in store at the Lounge.
I was delighted to hear that Bakers Lounge is still alive, still vital, and still hosting top acts. And I just got off the phone with Bill at the Lounge. He is offering all Netroots Nation attendees a special rate on drinks. There is a $5 cover charge, but the food is said to still be good, with a memorable bar. That was where I first tried drinks like Singapore Slings and Slo Gin Fizzes.
When I attended school in Ann Arbor, Bakers was the place to go for jazz, and I'm delighted to say that it still holds that reputation.
Any jazz loves are welcome to kosmail me or comment below, and maybe we can attend as a group.
