Caught in a whirlwind of global unrest. Caught in the arguments and decisions and opinions of others about what is going on in the world today. This is where I find myself and I can scarcely catch my breath.
At least there is the Kos which lends itself to allowing others to share in their frustrations about our world as it appears today.
I look on my own plate of life and find that I am so overwhelmed I cannot seem to sort out the emotions that well up within me. I must start somewhere so I will start with the problems in Israel.
I am perplexed that a social website can say that showing a bare woman's breast is not in good taste yet allow the head of a Palestinian child exploded go on my news thread and have no qualms about it. What the hell? For what good is that? I then see a post of destruction of establishments in France with people yelling, " gas the Jews." The justification for this is because of what is going on in Gaza. A painful truth of the times and yet it has been a long standing pain. Now of course we can bring it to you with color photos that you can download and share. That is the only difference. Maybe with any luck we can pretend that the Holocaust never happened even though the US troops took actual photos of the camps when they arrived. Maybe people didn't believe because the pictures were in black and white!
Why talk about NATO, look where we are! Are we to draw the religious and political lines and make a choice or side with whom we think is right or wrong? Are we searching for money to donate to a cause (which also is on the news thread)? Is is that necessary? Is this to keep us from burying our heads in the Middle East sand and say it isn't happening?
I just don't get it. This has been going on for more years than I am. Is it time to say we are sorry however we have our own issues here in America? Is it time to say I don't care, it is not my problem? Is it time to take the Libertarian stance and say let us think of what is going on in our country and it is not my problem?
Here we sit in the USA and blaming our president for everything that is happening in the world. While we are at it lets not forget his drone attacks. Lets not forget he was too busy to address the issues in the Ukraine. Well, now that I think about it this has been the way the white privileged have always done - blame the black dude.
Shame on all of us for this one. Perhaps I am not realizing that our president is the diversion tactic for all these problems. I am slow at some things. Yet I cannot help but say what in the hell are we doing here?
Now we have children (who seem to be the focus of all politically charged things these days) that are exposed with blood and dismemberment to children trying to enter the country because their homeland is riddled with drug wars and etc. Let us not forget all the children that were killed by a maniac. Should we open up the gun rights platform now? If you ask me the common thread is not the guns, it is the maniacs of the world, be they single or in a group or in a army. This has been going on for years as well. Children were gassed, children were on the Haitian boats on the Atlantic coast wanting the US to allow them in because of political unrest yet we let the Cubans in because an aging dictator has been a threat since the Bay of Pigs incident.
Should we take sides again? Should we say let us worry about our education and safety of our children first? Should we close our eyes as we view those immigrants that follow due process as a role model? Should we take another look? At this point it would be refreshing to see what great people we are because we save animals from abuse and neglect.
Moving closer to the shores of the USA we have women's right challenged again. We come full circle and have to go through this again. We have gay bashing and hatred everywhere. We are fighting over what side of the political fence we are on. We have our own constitution being put to the test. We have issues galore with homeless people and oh - children living in motels because their parents are out of work. Gotta love those kids! Should we put all this aside to be the world police? Should we strive for being a martyr? Should we seek to be benevolent?
As Americans we have become inconvenienced. We have become impatient because technology is telling us things and spelling things out for us both figuratively and literally. We cannot be die hards for using and learning cursive writing. We hate all the security measures at airports because we are Americans and we hate being inconvenienced! In saying this hate is fast and easy. Killing is fast and easy. Taking a side is a must if you want to remain a social being in a world of political unrest and impatience for a president who has had the pink tie of Boehner around his neck.
I can barely hold on to what has been in my own life. I don't recognize my mate anymore and said teenage son has a mohawk he dyed red! We are at odds and a battle occurs every now and then and I look at the world and global warming no less and there is a perfect storm brewing in every household. My lily pad is in jeopardy and yet it seems like nothing in light of our world today. Perhaps a truce on ourselves is in order. Perhaps our mouths are the most vile of weapons and not the guns.
If you want to sit and think that these issues of our world are not affecting how we live among ourselves then perhaps you need to think again. In the meantime I think the lily pad has been caught up in the storm of life and is headed for OZ. I heard the lollipop guild is non-partisan. Or the lily pad is headed for Sweden!
Rib-it rib-it I do love this country and my family and my rights provided by the Constitution. Lastly, do you actually believe I am going to give up my guns now?
