Workers on the Long Island Rail Road have been without a contract since 2010. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has demanded benefit cuts and other concessions from workers. MTA management has rejected recommendations from two Presidential Emergency Boards that would end the dispute.
Union members ask for nothing more than what both these neutral federal boards have already recommended.
If the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority is allowed to ignore a neutral Presidential Emergency Board, then what does that mean for the rest of us?
So far, the Governor has remained silent.
Tell Governor Cuomo to do what's right. He controls the MTA and can intervene to tell the MTA to agree to the recommendations already made by these two Presidential Emergency Boards.
