Nothing to go wrong here: The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on Friday announced it is mulling the idea of permitting alcohol sales at gun shows. It would not permit the sale of live ammunition or taking possession of a weapon at such an event.
Gun owners, enthusiasts, and pressure groups on all sides of II Amendment issues are weighing in on the proposal. AP interviewed several people at a gun show who were both in favour and opposed to the idea. According to AP most at the show were opposed.
The Texas State Rifle Association, the state affiliate of the National Rifle Association, says it is still reviewing the proposal, as is Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
The Commission will have a thirty-day public hearing period before any rules change. Currently, any venue licensed to sell alcohol is prohibited from doing so during the time it takes to set up, run, and tear down the gun show.
