Judas Goat. Whipping Boy. I predict that Des Hague is going to pay for the sins of the dogfightin' NFLers and the rogue cops shooting citizens.
At least Michael Vick didn't, far as we know, kick his dogs.
There's one time to kick a dog, maybe: to try and break up a dogfight. Don't reach in. My wife did, and our dog (a rescue, and very well-behaved) accidentally bit her. She recovered and the dog was up on his shots. Let the dog bite your shoe, not your hand.
But I digress.
Back to Tough Guy Puppy-Kickin' Chief Executive Officer of "Hospitality" Company Centerplate Des Hague.
All I saw in that elevator was Des' immaculately coiffed nape, and a cowed puppy. Was the dog being punished for breathing? The dog was in a filthy crate. Can't Des (bet he drives, ohh, a Tesla, you see, he's young and modern, from his $3 million house in the Stamford slums) hire a dog sitter? Oh, and his casual attire was very tasteful.

My wife's comment: "If he'd do that he'd abuse children." What a role model is Des.
Did he really lie about owning the dog? This is appropriate CEO behavior? (We all know it is, really, but theoretically of course it's not. After all, many CEOs are expected to lie to employees, and even investors, as required. Not to mention goivernment officials and yes, even law enforcement, all in the cause of More Profits. We've all seen too many examples.)
Oh, he's "sorry," he "lost control" with "a friend's" puppy.
Yep. A rich, privileged control freak. I've known control freak company presidents. Pathologically incapable of telling anyone the truth. Always giving the pep talk. One in particular I recall (hello, Mike!), who I guarantee you never got near a football team, using football metaphors. Meanwhile covering his entire Executive Desk with those 1 by 1-1/2 inch PostIts.
If he were my friend and did this, he wouldn't be any longer. Wonder what the Invisible Friend thinks of the video?
Like so many on the toobz, I've been shaking with anger and frustration over the runnin' and gunnin' cops whose antics are finally being reported from all around the country.
I am generally uncertain what to do, or what I can do, to help in each of those cases. The Blue Juggernaut seems almost too large to confront. I wind up feeling a little helpless and a little hopeless and a little thankful I don't live and haven't lived for a long time in the sort of communities where police are vigilantes rather than "peace officers."
So when I looked at the Des Hague Elevator Tape, I was surprised to see how angry it made me how fast. It took exactly one kick.
We don't have to put up with killer cops, and we don't have to put up with Puppy-Kickers. To me, they grow from the same stunted cultural root. I never countenance this abuse stuff and I give the occasional small donation to Kos related animal causes and the IFAW and SPCA, especially when it's in response to disasters.
But why was I so angry?
- Hague's lack of compassion for sentient beings.
- Rich White Boy bullies someone or something that can't retaliate.
- Plain simple animal abuse of a dog that wasn't doing anything to cause such an act.
- The fact that I felt like this is absolutely unnecessary behavior, any time, but especially right now in the national context.
At the same time I felt like this is one time my voice might be heard.
So I tweeted Centerplate about "The Centerplate Promise." http://www.centerplate.com/...
"We promise to be a positive force in our communities." Bullshit.
I certainly hope animal abuse is a felony in Canada. I tried to find Puppy-Kicker Hague's resume online, haven't so far, but I want to check out which schools train such a fine example of American corporate leadership.
The press releases from assorted sports teams are nice, but not enough.
Rock bands should refuse to play venues where Centerplate has contracts.
Professional associations should cancel their gatherings, or insist on a replacement "hospitality" vendor.
Meanwhile, Des ought to be leashed for 5 years, and required to wear a sign that says "Order me to lie down and then kick me. It's not as much as I deserve, but it will suffice."
