In April, Jacob Lavoro was arrested in the Austin suburb of Round Rock, Texas after authorities accused him of selling pot brownies. Both his conservative family and marijuana advocates were equally outraged when the District Attorney charged him with a first-degree felony and he
faced a sentence of five years to life if convicted.
Now Williamson County Assistant District Attorney Mark Brunner has had a change of heart:
“We don’t want to get bogged down in the distractions,” Williamson County Assistant District Attorney Mark Brunner said, adding his office felt they could have gone forward with the case but did not feel it was worth the time.
The story went viral and you have to think that definitely helped persuade the District Attorney to change his mind. No word on whether the Round Rock police are still dedicating their massive resources to busting these high-level college pot brownie rings.
