Obama pledges long-term campaign to fight Iraq's spreading jihadist crisis
http://www.theguardian.com/...
Obama admitted that rebuilding the Iraqi military, fostering trust among Sunnis and negating the threat from jihadists would be a long-term project. He added: "I don't think we're going to solve this problem in weeks. This is going to take some time."
The Backdrop
US taxpayers are $18 Trillion in debt -- that $60,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. C'mon people, cough it up.
Crippling austerity measures are currently underway in the guise of sequester cuts -- naturally military got excluded.
Taxpayers are fed up with endless wars. Soothing reassurance is needed.
Rich are doing fine after generous taxpayer bailouts.
The Plan And Questions
1) Rebuild the Iraqi Military - How many more $$$ Trillions in military equipment are US taxpayers going to have to cough up to the Iraq mess?
2) Foster Trust Among Sunnis - Ok, Sunnis and Shiites hate each other. How exactly can anyone change that?
3) Negate The Jihadists Threat - I guess CIA training and arming of ISIS in Syria kinda backfired. Oh well, who could have predicted that?
Obama is golfing on Martha's Vineyard and could not be reached for comment on this story.
