It can snow any month of the year in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming, but this one was big, wet, and heavy. A foot in town, almost two feet on the peaks. Trees still in leaf shattered and took the power out. People got stranded - especially folks from L.A. and Atlanta who couldn't believe that it could be 90F on Monday and 19F on Thursday.
But the day after - - -
Sapphire blue skies!
Unmowed grass underneath for the deer.
Blue and green and white.
Willows by the creek.
The sun pouring through aspen groves.
Three billion years of rocks.
Absolute silence.
"Green Aspens and Snow" by Dr. Seuss.
And tall grasses poking through.
For now, the snow will melt quickly.
But winter is coming.
