So the GOP has decided to make amnesty a key issue in the U.S. Senate race between Michelle Nunn (D. GA) and David Perdue (R. GA) except there's one problem:
http://www.dailykos.com/...
The most recent entry in the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s $2.5 million campaign against Democrat Michelle Nunn is on the topic of immigration.
Its math: Nunn + Obama = amnesty.
The problem: That “amnesty” was the comprehensive “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill, co-written by possible 2016 presidential contender Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. It cleared the Senate last year with 14 Republicans in favor, including 2008 presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
In other words: Nunn + Rubio +McCain = amnesty, too.
Rubio in particular worked hard in those heady days of spring 2013 trying to convince conservatives that a 13-year path to citizenship requiring fines and back taxes is not “amnesty.” He got enough Senate Republicans on board, but House Republicans have not touched it. - Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 9/9/14
And Nunn is calling out the GOP's hypocrisy in her new ad:
http://politics.blog.ajc.com/...
The above ad for Michelle Nunn, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, is on Georgia airwaves today, pointing to the oddity of a David Perdue ad, paid for by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, accusing her of supporting the “amnesty” bill supported by 14 GOP senators.
Note that Nunn brings U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., not Marco Rubio, R-Fla., into the argument. Not by name, anyway.
From the ad:
“On immigration, Nunn supports the same bill as the Chamber of Commerce and Republican senators like John McCain, putting 38,000 agents to secure the border. And Michelle Nunn spoke out against President Obama taking executive action on immigration.” - Atanta Journal-Constitution, 9/13/14
Perdue's refusal to support immigration reform cost him his endorsement from the Chamber of Commerce. With Georgia's changing demographics, this may not be the issue Perdue and the GOP really want to hammer on. By the way, more big names keep hitting the campaign trail for Nunn:

Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance in Atlanta on Saturday to campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn.
The two were spotted at Home Grown restaurant in Reynoldstown.
From the restaurant, R&B singer Usher hosted a fundraising event. - 11 Alive, 9/14/14
We can win this race, we just have to get our base out to the polls. Click here to donate and get involved with Nunn's campaign:
