To say that right-wing, fundamentalist Christian nutcase Rafael Cruz always says cretinous stuff would be unfair: he only does it when his mouth is open.
But when his mouth is open, boy, does Cruz, (father of Sen. Ted '250-pounds-of-condemned-spam-in-a-suit' Cruz) come out with some toxically stupid shit.
His latest derp-fest happened at the Western Williamson County Republican Club in Texas, a place that sounds exactly like McSorley's in the East Village--but minus the good beer, good conversation and interesting people.
Cruz was explaining to his audience of (I'm guessing here) white people, that 'the average black' is just too stupid to understand that the minimum wage is a Very Bad Thing.
Cruz went on to cite Jason Riley, because Riley, a member of The Wall Street Journal's editorial board is black and he agrees, so QED, libtards!
In fact, the grindingly stupid Riley is just Allen West with more thesaurus and less 'American Ronin' horseshit; DK's own Denise Oliver Velez scrutinized the clueless Riley and his equally repugnant wife in a diary here last June.
But let's give Fidel Castro's friend Rafael 'God Made Me Say It' Cruz the floor:
“I am going to try to encourage everybody I can to buy a book written by a black journalist. His name is Jason Riley. He wrote a book called Please Stop Helping Us, talking about how all the handouts to blacks have kept blacks in the poorhouse. And I’ll tell you what, I am going to make it my task to buy 15 to 20 copies of that book and hand it out to some black leaders to read.”
“Jason Riley said in an interview, Did you know before we had minimum wage laws black unemployment and white unemployment were the same? If we increase the minimum wage, black unemployment will skyrocket. See, he understands it, but the average black does not.”
Got that? The 'average black' is too dumb to understand that raising wages to keep pace with rising cost of everything is A Very Bad Thing.
This is as crazy as trying to persuade people that getting affordable health care to deal with medical conditions is A Very Bad Thing. I mean, who would be stupid enough to try that line of reasoning?
Oh...right: Rafael Cruz--that's who; him and the rest of the bloated, reeking carcase that is the GOP.
You know what, Rafael? Fuck you; fuck your odious son and fuck the GOP. Seriously.
And for all you masochists:
