The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Rain, sun, wind...insects, birds, flowers...meteorites, rocks...seasonal changes...all are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.
Just a quick one today, folks. I need your help. Hubby and I went on vacation in the Berkshires over the Labor Day weekend (more complete diary coming later this week). While touring a lovely historic site, a mysterious raptor hovered over us. Follow below the orange bird poop for details.
I was able to get several good shots but have not been able to come up with an identification I'm happy with. What do you guys think?
I lean towards juvenile red-tailed hawk. What do you folks think?
Anybody have other mystery birds we can have fun identifying?
