I thought I would share what I and a group of mostly retired ladies are doing in our communities.
We started a group called SUNNY BUDS. Our goal is to brighten the day of people who might need a "pick me up".
We have given away flowers, cookies, cards, and other items to seniors, and others whom we wanted to recognize.
The list so far includes low income housing, transitional housing for homeless and abused individuals, 8 women who have been under served in a veterans home(we were told that the men in the facility get lots of things, but the women don't usually, as most things are men centered there), a senior center, a humane society, and a woman who has been suffering from an illness.
If you would like to join our facebook page, we would be honored to let you know about our current and past projects.
We are also trying to raise money to help us in our endeavors. Most of us are on fixed incomes and we didn't realize how much we were going to have to spend doing some of these projects, even though much of what we do is made up of homemade and/or donated items, the basic materials still need to be acquired.
Our biggest expenses so far is card stock cards and envelopes, scrapbook paper, ribbon, tape, glue, flowers, baking items(flour sugar, vanilla etc...) and other materials that are needed to make things with.
If anyone is willing to donate to our endeavors, we have set up a gofundme acct at:

If you live near the Potlatch ID, Pullman WA area we would love to have more volunteers for our work days that we schedule to make cards, bake(you can bake at your home and drop items off), plant flowers and/or arrange cut flowers, deliver, etc.
We would also like people to volunteer to grow flowers in their gardens that we could glean for either cut flowers or potted plants. These could include Iris, impatients, daisys, baby's breathe, pussy willow, salt cedar etc.
If you look at our facebook site, we also put up requests for specific items when we need them, like vases, coffee cups, homemade items, etc.
Thank you in advance for any help or encouragement we receive.

If what we are doing inspires you to start doing something similar in your area, please do and let us know about it.
