My family, among thousands of others, have had their data stolen from the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield website. This data breach was reported a week ago.
To date, I do not know if my data was stolen. I am being told by my employer that I will receive notification, by mail, "in the coming weeks."
The coming weeks? You mean long after the data has been sold already? Fantastic idea...
Oh, and their solution to this heinous data breach? TWO YEARS of identity protection.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
My teen children's data: Birthday, SSN, Address, Etc. has been compromised. Are you telling me the risk of identity theft will disappear in two years? The entire rest of their lives, their data is out there.. floating around in some file. The thieves only have to wait 2 years, and then the data is no longer being monitored and it's "safe" for them to proceed.
Lifetime identity protection should be provided by Anthem, and nothing less. I suggest they buy one of those Identity Protection companies and just include it as part of the benefit of being a member- a benefit you never lose.
This problem, caused by their negligence, will affect me and my children for life. They need to deal with it for life.
Any lawyers out there with class action experience?
