The Orange County school board voted to ban all religious materials from being passed out in there public schools in response to the satanic temple trying to put its own book in their schools.
Previously, starting in 2014 one group had been allowed to put bibles and religious materials along with an atheist group putting out there materials on tables at the beginning of the year, on freedom day.
Apparently the Satanic Temples request to place “The Satanic Children’s big book of Activities” a coloring work book, was a bit too much “Freedom of religion” for the board to handle. They voted 7-1 to amend the policy to exclude all religious materials.
However the food fight isn’t over just yet. Roger Gannam, with the Liberty Counsel, a Christian ministry organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family has vowed to put up a legal fight if the religious materials are banned.
Liberty Counsel waged a similar legal battle in 2009 against Collier County schools that they won, costing the school district $20,000 in reimbursed legal fees.
Ironicly should they win this battle it could result in the Satanic Temples materials getting back in the school system
