I'm not sure this is going to be much of a Diary, more like a brain fart.
The recent letter sent by republican Senators to Iran will help Hillary, assuming she is running for president, because of two things:
1.) It damages presidential hopefuls Senator Cruz, Senator Paul, & Senator Rubio for any general election.
2.) The Letter mollifies Hillary's vote when she was Senator.
Disclosure - she was my Senator and had my support for her presidency. While I was always opposed to the Iraq War, I did not hold her vote against her, made in the aftermath of 9/11, to authorize President Bush to utilize all means necessary to achieve a solution to the purported problems in the Middle East. Republicans made it a tough vote and Hillary, like so many democrats, I believe, was backing the Office of the Presidency and not a march to war. I have backed President Obama ever since Hillary was just my Senator again.
This recent Letter from republican Senators to Iran givens Hillary a chance to make some distinctions about leadership.
This Letter was a 'big Eff'ing deal'. When even republicans pundits (Kathleen Parker, Dana Milbank) and otherwise republican-friendly newspapers (NY Daily News) are pointing out the stupidity (and I'm being kind) of this Letter, I doubt the political-class will soon forget and suspect this matter will get debated at one of the twelve republican presidential debates.
Inviting Bibi last week was bad enough (and I am often less critical of Israel than fellow Kossacks), but this action the same week as the SAE Frat nonsense in Oklahoma, and no Congressional republicans attending Selma events, and their Whip supporting white supremacists, and limiting voting rights, and expanding gun and stand your ground rights, and on and on…..even sensible people must start to see racism.
Unfortunately, I see none of the republican nonsense stopping any time soon. These folks have no shame and have repeatedly said they will burn the village in order to save it.
It's one thing to support the far-wings of a political party, it's certainly something else when the far-wing was 47 Senators who wrongly agreed to incorrect interpretations of both International and U.S. Constitutional laws.
These 47 Senators cannot seem to get their way with President Obama, so they just tried to point their weapons someplace else….and were found to be pointing blank cartridges.
None of these cosigners should ever be Commander in Chief if they are willing to cede their responsibility to Congress.
I'm sure republicans, with Tom Cotton hosting, made a lot of money today from Defense Lobbyists.
And for the people who do not want President Hillary, I watched her lose once before to a better candidate and would gladly do it again.
Thank you. I feel better for just letting that out.
