Louie the Cat
Many of you know how crazy I am about my cat Louie. He is inside all night and has outside access all day. Lately in the morning he's been going further and further afield, odd because we have plenty of acreage in which to roam. Yesterday I saw him at the neighbors closest to the road, and there was another cat. Louie hadn't even seen another cat for at least five years. I chased him back home and gave him a severe lecture. He fell asleep on the patio and slept soundly for 6 hours straight. Worried, I picked him up and he went under a bush and slept for four more hours.
Even more worried I put him inside the house and he hid under the bed and slept longer. By now I'm really frightened but just before going to bed I touched his back and there was….something. Now at least I had a reason for his lethargy. I rushed him to an emergency vet this morning and sure enough, a puncture wound on his neck. He got an antibiotic shot and treatment and is almost as good as new. One would hope that he would avoid that kind of wandering from now on.
He's fine now. When I brought him home he walked around the house smelling everything just to make sure it was really home.
Is this my hose?
It is!!!! I'm so happy.
I'm ready to help you garden. Plant something!
All of this somewhat derailed my original KTK plan, inspired by this diary:
California Has one year of water left.
So a few observations, much abbreviated. This structure surrounds our cistern. It is very old, 10 feet wide and ten feet deep, lined with bricks. It fills in November, normally, and flows into my 8,000 gallon tank by gravity. It dries up by May. So normally I have all the irrigation water I could ever use for half the year. I checked the flow yesterday and it's as though you left a faucet running a little bit. Not good.
How dry I am.
I dug a pond on the stream bed which should be full of water till May. The green is dried algae and the bottom looks like the desert.
I don't want to be totally despairing about the water situation, though it's getting real for me and I'm in a fortunate area and situation. The grass is green and the fruit trees are in full blossom, covered with bees. There's always hope.
Flowers = hope.
So I do hope everyone's situation is positive and there is plenty of water (or snow) to carry you through. The color for next Tuesday is…….GREEN.
