Bernie, why don't you name Zephyr Teachout as your Vice President? I mean, like, right now!
Naming Teachout right off the bat breaks from tradition & business as usual … it shows that you are serious about changing the way things are done. It also immediately creates a second powerful voice to help with the Democratic primaries. As you well know, you aren't going to get the support of much of the Democratic establishment nor many of the mega-money donors. Wouldn't you like to be able to hold twice as many town hall meetings? And have someone else handle half of the interviews? And have that someone be a youngish, attractive, articulate woman? Who better than Teachout to give you the help you need?
Being from Ohio, I wasn't that familiar with Teachout until I saw a Bill Moyers show where he interviewed Teachout & Lawrence Lessig. Here's a Matt Stoller article about the New York governor's race. And you can read Teachout's new book, too. I was truly impressed … & lot's of other people will be, too.
Now Bernie, I am also thinking that even if a Sanders/Teachout ticket fails to get the Democratic nomination, it will have given Zephyr Teachout national prominence. People like you & Teachout are the only hope I see for our country to stop its slow, miserable decline. Hopefully, you'll make it all the way to the presidency. If not, you will have at the very least have promoted a small-d & big-D democratic Democrat onto the national stage where she belongs.
Zephyr, why don't you get your friends in high places … Matt Stoller, I'm looking at you … to convince Sanders to name you his VP? I mean like, right now!
I know you'd be a great governor in New York. And you've already performed a great service by tainting Andrew Cuomo's prospects for any higher office. But I'm here in Ohio, & New York is over there … & I'm greedy enough to want both of you in our national leadership. So why don't you let someone else take over your teaching job, & jump right in. You know you loved your first political race … it showed. Besides, even if you & Sanders don't win it all, New York will still be there … & you'll have even more friends to help you in the next try at the governorship.
So Bernie & Zephyr … give those pundits something real to talk about!
