One of the most talented, successful, and beloved country music stars has found yet another way to pay it forward. Tim McGraw will be giving away mortgage-free homes to veterans in need, and their families, during his 2015 summer concert tour. McGraw talks about this decision on his website:
“The return to civilian life can be a challenging transition. We want to welcome veterans home to the community they sacrificed to protect. A mortgage-free home provides stability for their families and also allows them to start this new chapter of their life with one less worry,” said McGraw in Nashville while preparing for the tour. “It’s an amazing feeling to see them receive something they so deeply deserve — and to be able to share that experience with thousands of fans each night makes me proud to be a part of this program.”
Along with Operation Homefront and Chase, Tim McGraw has helped to provide over 108, in 30 states, to veterans and their families.
Since debuting his first country single in 1992, McGraw has sold over 40 million records worldwide. He’s won multiple awards including three Grammy Awards, while garnering thirty-six #1 singles. Some of McGraw's biggest hits include, "Live Like You Were Dying”, “Over and Over" "Don't Take The Girl," and my personal favorite, "It's Your Love" - a duet with his wife, Faith Hill, another very generous and talented country music artist. Together they have donated their time, talents, and money to help countless others. Also an actor, McGraw has been seen in Friday Night Lights, The Blind Side, and Disney’s latest movie Tomorrowland. And this year, TIME Magazine slated him as one of their 100 Most Influential People in the world. An outspoken Democrat, Tim McGraw once expressed interest in running for political office. Given his proactive generosity and compassion for others, that could only be a good thing - regardless of the political party.
Many thanks to Tim McGraw for recognizing veterans who have served and/or risked their lives for America. They deserve so much more than what America have given back to them. Perhaps McGraw will inspire others to reach out. Either way, it's nice to imagine the joy that that will transpire this summer.
