This will be short and bittersweet.
The people of Wisconsin continue to catch on. Better late than never.
The new Marquette University poll has been released.
Scott Walker's approval dips below 40 percent in Wisconsin in latest Marquette poll
Couldn't happen to a more deserving vandal.
Not much to say, but here are the essential numbers:
According to the latest Marquette University Law School poll, 39 percent of Wisconsinites approve of Walker's performance as governor, down from 41 percent in April. Fifty-seven percent of voters disapprove, up slightly from 56 percent in April.
Meanwhile, Walker is more than 1,000 miles away, campaigning for president in New Hampshire.
Thursday's Marquette poll, conducted Aug. 13-16, is the first survey of Wisconsin voters since Walker officially announced his candidacy for president.
More good news:
In a hypothetical election against Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Clinton leads Walker by 10 points. In April, she held a 12-point lead against the governor.
Among Democratic voters, Clinton leads the presidential field with 44 percent, followed by Bernie Sanders at 32 percent and Joe Biden at 12 percent.
The majority of Wisconsinites — 63 percent — disapprove of Walker's presidential bid, while 33 percent support it. However, Franklin noted, that sample includes both Democrats and Republicans.
Frankly, the fact that he is still at 39% here in Wisconsin is still appalling. After all the lies, greed, corruption, division, and hatred he has sown, he should be in jail. But, the trend is in the right direction, and the main national headline will be beautiful: "Walker's Numbers Sinking in Wisconsin; Approval in the 30s." And when he loses in the primaries, he will come back to Wisconsin dragging his dirty tricks and lies back into the ditch he came from. Or he will ascend to Fox pundit heaven.
Spread the pollster's good news far and wide.
PS A lot more detail here, in Marquette's own post: MARQUETTE LAW SCHOOL POLL FINDS WALKER, CLINTON LEADING PRIMARY FIELDS AMONG WISCONSIN VOTERS Some important further points....
Walker's Republican primary numbers having fallen dramatically since the last poll in April, from 40% to 25%. He's now just 12 ahead of... #2 Ben Carson at 13%! In April he was leading #2 Rand Paul 40%-10%! Also: Russ Feingold ahead of Ron Johnson 47% to 42%. Good, but not good enough for me!
11:48 AM PT: I see that there's another diary on the rec list about the same poll, highlighting the Sanders vs. Hillary numbers. I will leave mine up, since it highlights the Walker numbers and provides some additional info from the poll.
