Just heard the news that the UNC Board of Governors is removing Tom Ross as President of the UNC System because he is a Democrat (gasp!) and criticized cuts to the system budget made by the General Assembly last year. Rumors have it that Art Pope will be Dr. Ross' replacement. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord; the day of "Discount Higher Ed" has arrived in NC. If the Popester is tapped, we North Carolinians won't have to wait long for our revered public university system to turn into a human widget production line (to train folks for those plentiful minimum wage discount check out clerk jobs) that gets funded just well enough to feed the rats in the dumpsters. Can't wait for all the cost-cutting to begin on what's left of the UNC budget. Heck, we'll probably have to print diplomas on recycled Roses Department Store receipts. Those middle class schmucks who go to public schools probably won't know the difference between the fancy schmancy high rag content stuff and the used receipts anyway. I was just thought I was discouraged and disillusioned by the mid-term election results. Now that I've heard this news I know the difference....you can add "demoralized" to the description and make it a triple D situation.
