I continue to be impressed at how many of the supposed leading lights of the nation
just do not understand the world around them.
Christian Broadcasting Network host Pat Robertson on Wednesday predicted that gay men and lesbians would eventually “die out because they don’t reproduce.”
Go on.
“You know, those who are homosexual will die out because they don’t reproduce,” the TV preacher opined. “You know, you have to have heterosexual sex to reproduce.”
An important Fact, and one that cannot be stressed enough. We are willing to cede this one, barring certain edge cases like in vitro fertilization or Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ—at least until the upcoming cloning vats are perfected. And yet—mysteriously—gay people keep appearing.
A sharp mind might find that a puzzle, or might note that humans (and all other animals) have been around for a good long time, certainly long enough for this theory to have made a dent in things if it was true. A merely adequate mind would likewise, if they spent their life thinking about these things and pontificating about what they mean, eventually sense that the theory they were positing and the plain reality of the world around them were at odds.
Instead, many of the supposed leading lights of the nation just do not understand how these things work. Any "things"—take your pick. That's a little depressing.
